Alvona Cunningham

Alvona Cunningham works for Junior Achievement of Eastern Massachusetts (JA) as the Education Manager for JA Academy and Scholars Program. JA Academy is an after-school program where high school students create and manage their own company with guidance from business professionals and college students. Alvona's goal is to empower youth to follow their dreams and pursue success feeling confident in their abilities.
Prior to joining JA, Alvona promoted literacy throughout elementary schools as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Washington, D.C. Alvona graduated with honors from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Business Administration concentrating in Marketing with a second major in African American Studies. She also expressed her zeal for international travel by participating in the Paris Noir, Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization study in Egypt, and Semester at Sea study abroad programs to understand how people around the world live. Since she also enjoys the precision and excitement of connecting people to goods/services, she is currently earning a Masters Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Emerson College. She also serves as the Repertoire and Media Assistant for the Angelic Voices of Praise choir.
Ms. Cunningham has been a member of YPN since 2007.
