Dear YPN Members and Supporters,

Welcome to the Young Professionals Network (YPN) of Eastern Massachusetts, an affiliate of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts (ULEM).

YPN is devoted towards closing the gap of economic disparities in communities of color while simultaneously serving the needs of the YPN membership. Under the auspices of the ULEM President and CEO Darnell Williams, YPN members are being groomed and positioned to be the heirs to the National Urban League movement, stewards of public service, and the future leaders of business enterprises. At the same time, we are today’s influencers and trailblazers in a host of corporate and civic arenas around New England

As you may know, there is a great deal of unfinished and challenging work to be completed in the days, weeks and months ahead in terms of advancing our cause and breaking down barriers. Upon assuming the office of the president, I articulated the following goals for our organization to achieve:

  •  Host a series of membership workshops focused on career management, professional development, financial literacy, and home buying.

  •  Develop corporate sponsorships while building community partnerships that will offer our members a plethora of resources needed to help increase job opportunities and community service.

  •  Actively participate in constructive dialogue designed to channel direct action that will help eradicate the challenges of disillusionment facing several young black men in Boston.

So whether you're a doctor or carpenter, a lawyer or janitor, have a PhD or GED, we want you to join us. In the meantime, please browse our website to learn about the vast array of events we are organizing and to know how you can be part of our dynamic movement for economic parity in Boston.

Sincerely,

Duane Johnson
President
